Nova 106.9 plays it straight

Brisbane’s Nova 106.9 Morning Announcer Katie Mattin is looking forward to a whole new way of starting her day with the announcement that Nova 106.9 will play 20 hits straight at the start of her shift.

Nova 106.9 has officially declared that “Music will take over Nova” each work day from 9.00 AM, playing 20 back-to-back hits, giving the listener roughly 1 hour of uninterrupted music.

Nova 106.9 Music Director, Kate Casey believes giving listeners 20 songs straight to listen to at the start of their day would set them up for success.

“Now that Nova is playing 20 songs straight at the start of each work day, our listeners will be set up for a great day,” Casey said.

The change follows the release of a study conducted at the Northwestern University’s Kellog School of Management that suggests that empowering music in the workplace can induce harder work.

In an interview with ABC News, Kellog professor Loran Nordgren explained, “Our work suggests that strategically listening to high-powered music can help you perform better”

The report suggests that like athletes, if people listening to empowering music before starting their day, they will put in the right frame of mind to tackle their workload efficiently.

While the top three rated songs We Will Rock You by Queen, Get Ready For This by 2 Unlimited and 50 Cent’s In Da Club are unlikely to be found on Nova 106.9’s playlists, the high powered beats of modern pop music are likely to do the trick.
