NRL broadcasts back on 4BC

NRL broadcasting will be returning to 4BC, with the first game of the season heard live on Friday night.

Fairfax Radio Network has signed a two-year agreement to broadcast ‘The Continuous Call Team’ and NRL matches.

4BC’s NRL broadcast will include Brisbane Broncos games, State of Origin matches, as well as other league games throughout the season, culminating in the final series.

4BC General Manager Anthony Frangi said: “Rugby league has been an integral part of 4BC for 20 years and we are delighted that the NRL is back on 4BC. The NRL further strengthens our portfolio of live sport and, with our cricket broadcasts, we are now able to offer our audience live sport all year round.

4BC will be the only Brisbane AM commercial station to bring its audience comprehensive rugby league coverage.”

Fairfax Radio Network Managing Director Adam Lang said: “Rugby league has been an important part of 4BC’s history and we are pleased to announce this broadcast deal so we can continue to provide our loyal audience with the NRL broadcast. It is part of our network’s commitment to have sports broadcasting throughout the year, following our landmark agreement to broadcast cricket, which began this year.”

The decision to take 2GB’s call of the NRL reverses last year’s position that saw the station drop the live rugby league calls during rights negotiations. See our reports from last year.
