One Night Stand in Dubbo

In 2013 triple j’s One Night Stand concert is going to Dubbo.

From the outback of Alice Springs, to the tiny seaside town of Tumby Bay, ABC Radio triple j works with local communities to bring a “Big Live Music Experience” to often neglected regional areas around the country. Now in its tenth year, the station is taking triple j’s One Night Stand to Dubbo in NSW.

Triple j Drive presenter Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall says: “Working at triple j we get to see many beautiful and interesting parts of Australia. It’s important to get outside of the major cities and see parts of Australia that so many different types of people call home. And now we get to go to Dubbo! Mini golf, Old Dubbo Gaol, a zoo and now the triple j One Night Stand… Dubbo’s got everything!”

Saturday 13 April will be the date for Flume, The Rubens, Ball Park Music, Seth Sentry and a stack of triple j presenters to throw a huge all ages, drug and alcohol free concert in yet another region of the country. Entry to the concert is free but organisers will be asking for a gold coin donation, proceeds of which will go to local charities.

Not only will triple j broadcast the entire event live from 10 am, but for the first time the whole concert will be broadcast live on television on ABC2 from 7pm. Via a second screenlisteners will also have Access All Areas with live backstage video plus on-stage streaming on the triple j website. Completing the full multi-platform experience triple j will also have online videos, photos, music streams and artist blogs. ABC Television’s video turnaround service iView will be available after the event so listeners can be part of the concert whenever and wherever they are.

Triple j is looking for one lucky local act to play alongside the bands. If you are from the Western Plains region of NSW, and want a shot at playing at the One Night Stand, upload your songs to triple j Unearthed before Sunday 24 March. The winner will be announced on Wed 27 March.
