Radio students get a kick out of SCA boot camp

Central Institute of Technology’s top Radio students experienced a unique day at SCA Bunbury last Friday, 23rd of October. The students, a combination of four members of the Advanced Diploma and seven from Diploma in Radio Broadcasting (all of which broadcast on CIT college station Boom Radio), were awarded a true insight into the everyday activities of a commercial radio station with Hot FM and RadioWest.

The students networked with station staff, including RadioWest breakfast hosts Cliff and Dougie, as well as HOT FM breakfast duo Ryan and Rosie. SCA also ran workshops during the day, which allowed the students to prove their advertising (copy and production) and program presenting skills.

Regional General Manager of SCA WA Sam Fotu says, “It was great to have the students attend our boot camp and gain some on-the-ground experience in the industry. There was a bumper crop of talent on display throughout the day and I hope to see some of their faces back with us during their careers.”

CIT Head of Radio Philip Vinciullo says ‘This was a reward for our top students after their strong work throughout 2015. We truly appreciated the time taken by the SCA Bunbury team to impart their knowledge and experience on our students”.
