SBS adds four more languages to Australia Explained

SBS‘ multilingual podcast Australia Explained has launched in four new languages; Cantonese, Indonesian, Portuguese, and Urdu.

Tailored for new and recent migrants to the land Down Under, Australia Explained helps demystify the quirky habits that embody the Aussie way of life for Cantonese, Indonesian, Portuguese, and Urdu speakers.

Special guests from each linguistic community will discusses elements of Australian life that aren’t always understood by newcomers to the country.

Originally created by SBS Arabic24, the series has also been produced in Filipino, Mandarin, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Thai and Turkish.

There are six episodes in the series, taking a light-hearted look at Aussie slang, beach culture, sport, food and more.

The first episodes in all languages are now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, via the SBS Radio app.
