Spida Rides 741kms to raise funds for local hospital

92.5 Gold FM Breakfast host, Spida Everitt, will be riding a bicycle from Gladstone to the Gold Coast to raise funds for Gold FM’s Give Me 5 for Kids.

Spida aims to ride the 741km stretch from Tuesday morning until Friday lunch – but he can only ride each kilometer if $50 is donated to the cause.

92.5 Gold FM will be asking for donations from Gold and Tweed Coast families and businesses to raise the funds needed to get Spida back to the Gold Coast.

Spida has been planning this ride since last year, commenting: “For the last couple of years, I’ve ridden a bike around the Gold Coast and then last year I rode a Tuk Tuk to raise the funds. In 2015 I wanted to make my ride bigger and better than ever- I wanted to really push myself. This 733km ride will push me both physically and mentally- and I’m sure I can count on the Gold and Tweed Coast to support me so I can come home!”

Bridget Daley, Spida’s Breakfast co-host, says: “Spida puts his body on the line each year for Give Me 5 for Kids but this year he has outdone himself. Over 700kms in just over three days… I’m sure he’ll make it home… but will it be in one piece?”

92.5 Gold FM’s Give Me 5 for Kids raises funds each June for the childrens’ wards of the Gold Coast University Hospital and Tweed Hospital and this year is raising funds to purchase much needed equipment such as a Panda (Warmer) Resuscitator, a Paediatric ECG Machine and a C-Mac Laryngoscopy Unit.
