Stazione Italiana si espande

Radio Viva Italia, a Melbourne based Italian station is appealing to the Italian community of Australia for support to expand their Italian heritage on the airwaves.

Radio Viva Italia is “an important bridge” for the commercial needs between the two countries with a particular attention from the food companies, helping to keep Italian culture alive in Australia, according to the station.

The station was born from an idea of Agostino Biamonti, one of the memorable names of the Italian radios. Biamonti was also the founder and managing director of Radio Nostalgia, the Radio of La Stampa-Itedi, recently bought by the Group Radio Number One.

Programming on Radio Viva Italia is bilingual, both for the music and for the information. The music programming is partly Italian, with contemporary songs, and partly international. The Radio gives a big space to the information and a great attention to the news that involve both Countries, available in Italian and in English.

In Australia 916,100 people identify themselves as having italian heritage while 316,900 speak Italian.
