SYN GM Tahlia Azaria moving on

SYN Media’s General Manager Tahlia Azaria is leaving the Melbourne youth broadcaster to take on a new role as Marketing and Fundraising Officer at the Community Broadcasting Association.

SYN President Andy Lynch paid tribute to Azaria when the news was announced, saying:

“SYN has been extraordinarily privileged to have Tahlia Azaria as General Manager between 2011 and 2014. Across that time Tahlia has expanded the organisation in both capacity and ambition but in a way that has carefully maintained our commitment to community values.

“The launch of SYN’s national expansion through SYN Nation will likely be remembered as the most monumental achievement under Tahlia’s leadership but equally important is the construction and fundraising of SYN’s new studios in 2012 and a growth in the size of SYN’s staff and volunteer leadership team.

“Tahlia has brought an unshakeable passion for the capacity of all young people and the role community broadcasting can play in shaping their lives. At SYN’s core is a commitment to providing opportunities for young people to take responsibility, a commitment which has been thoroughly rewarded under the leadership of Tahlia.”

Though all at the station are sad to see her leave, they are delighted that she will remain working in the sector at the CBAA.

Tahlia has told radioinfo: “I’m very excited to stay in the sector and sink my teeth into a new challenge.”

With two 24/7 community radio platforms on SYN 90.7 (analogue) and SYN Nation (digital), five hours of live television per week broadcast on community television station C31, a constantly evolving online presence at syn.org.au and thousands of young people moving through the organisation each year, SYN Media provides a dynamic and exciting opportunity for Australia’s youth community to shape the organisation’s approach and its outcomes.

SYN will advertise the GM’s job here on the radioinfo jobs page some time in the next few days.
