SYN’s new schedule: there’ll be fries with that

Youth run community broadcaster SYN Media has added twenty five new radio shows to its grid for the final radio season of the year.
Programming at SYN rotates every three months to give as many young people as possible the opportunity to make radio.

Among the highlights this season are:

  • Life With A Side Of Fries (Sundays 10:00pm): discusses the relevance of potatoes, both literally and metaphorically within life
  • The Health and Fitness Show (Sunday 10:30am): Health tips and fitness radio to work out to!
  • Hashtag (Sundays 1:30pm): explores the current crowdfunding trend, the pros and cons and how the service has evolved. The show will also host a half hour musical performance from a local band that uses crowdfunding
  • Revel In Vinyl (Wednesdays 3:00pm): focuses on the resurgence of vinyl, playing exclusively vinyl tracks and speaking with avid collectors and the people behind the creation of the records.

SYN’s weekly radio grid also includes six community groups this season. Oxfam, who bring together young people to produce and present international aid and development show Change Reaction at 10am each Saturday, and the Youth Disability Advocacy Service, who present Raise the Platform on Saturdays at 11am, are just two examples of the broad range of programming on offer.

The new season will also see the launch of Multifaith Perspectives, a program that explores religion and spirituality, produced and presented by a rotating team of fourteen young people from diverse faith backgrounds.

SYN Radio Programming Manager, David Crowe, says he’s proud of SYN’s diversity, “Whether you’re interested in gourmet cuisine, faith, politics or the latest up and coming local music acts, SYN has got you covered in season four.”
Listeners can tune in to SYN on 90.7FM, digital radio and online at syn.org.au. SYN provides broadcast and training opportunities to over 1000 young people each year.
