Tim Franklin found dead at home

Tasmanian radio and advertising figure Tim Franklin has been found dead at his home this morning.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.

Mr Franklin was 60.

He started his media career in commercial radio in the 1970s working in several markets around Australia.

In the 1980’s he appeared as a DJ at New York’s Studio 54.

Later on he established a successful advertising agency, Radar Promotions.

Hobart Lord Mayor Sue Hickey told the ABC, “Tim was very generous to the community, he did a lot of community work and he was a great all-round guy.

“He sort of put marketing on the map in Tasmania as well.” she said.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.

Tributes are pouring in on social media…

Tim Franklin will be farewelled at Millington’s Funeral Centre and Crematorium, 25 McIntyre Street, Mornington, this coming Wednesday (November 25, 2015) commencing at 1.00pm. In lieu of floral tributes, donations to the Cancer Council of Tasmania would be appreciated and may be left at the service.
