A Tribute for Jose Auditore at Sydney Memorial Service

On a cool wintery Friday morning in Sydney over 70 friends, relatives and school time friends yesterday attended a moving memorial service for Jose Auditore.

A further 220 people watched on via a live stream from Village Church at Annandale. The service was conducted by Dominic Steel also a former radio news journalist in Sydney.

As one of the founders of The Radio Green Room Facebook page, Jose passed away on July 3rd following a battle with liver cancer.

In tributes and memories from Jose’s home town of Mudgee, school friends Jamie Hannaford and Lisa Hurlstone told of a young man who had nothing but a caring and sharing friendship with those who came into contact with him. Something that many agreed continue right up until Jose’s passing.

After a short life as a local courier, Jose would soon get bitten by the radio bug and began his career at 2MG Mudgee.  Long-time radio friend Dale Whyte spoke of his fun times with Jose. Frequent pranks against competitor 4RO Rockhampton during his time with the cheeky but energetic Jose Auditore at 4CC Gladstone were part of the monthly activities in the Queensland coastal city.

A fitting tribute in words and music was provided on screen by Jose’s radio friends including  a live guitar musical tribute by Solomon Steel featuring Powderfinger’s haunting song , These Days.

A funeral service was held today (Saturday 18 July 2020) in Mudgee for Jose. Close family including his children Jose and Miranda along with Jose’s mother Maria Knight will attend with a small gathering of local Mudgee friends.

Jose requested no flowers in lieu of donations to the Cancer Council.
