Queensland broadcaster and advertising agency founder Joe Sands has passed away after a battle with cancer.

He had over 25 years experience in media, communications, and creative advertising, and was the strategic mind behind many successful national and international marketing campaigns.

Joe began his radio career after training at AFTRS, working at stations included Sea FM Gold Coast, B105 Brisbane, Wave FM Wollongong and 4MK Mackay.

In 2000, he started his own communications and creative agency on the Gold Coast, which merged with SMART in 2007. SMART went on to become one of Australia’s leading independent creative advertising agencies and was purchased by IPG (The Interpublic Group of Companies) in 2011 to become a division of Interpublic Group.

Our thoughts are with Joe’s wife Renae and son Jackson at this sad time.
