Vale Stuart Jay – Updated with memorial details

Stuart John Pratley, known as Stuart Jay in his radio and voiceover career, died last Saturday, February 17, 2024.

Jay worked at 2UE presenting Hit Pickers Hotline, on 2UW Breakfast and 2CH. He started on air in Adelaide at 5KA, then joined Melbourne’s 3UZ before heading to Sydney. He was the voiceover man for many of the places he worked at, as well as for other radio and television stations including 2DAY FM and WIN TV.

Gary Hoffman in The Radio Green Room said:

“Always remember Stuart’s greeting on 3UZ: ‘Hi-de-hi and happy g’day, this is the lean one Stuart Jay’, He was a terrific jock.

In his obituary his wife Maria Mera-Pratley said:

“Stuart asked me to say that he died ‘loudly’ not peacefully like everybody else!!”

While Stuart stated no funeral, his family are inviting Stuart’s friends and former work colleagues and associates to join them at a memorial to remember Stuart’s life.

The date is Sunday 3rd March at 1pm to 4pm at Everglades Historic House and Gardens at 37 Everglades Avenue, Leura. Refreshments will be provided. Parking in the car park adjacent to the entrance or in Everglades Avenue.
