Virginia Trioli will take over from Tony Eastley as host of ABC Radio’s flagship current affairs program AM.
After ten years a the helm, Eastley is returning to television, and will join News 24 as a senior presenter.
Eastley was previously a foreign correspondent and tv reporter, before moving to radio a decade ago.
Trioli currently hosts the News Breakfast show on News 24 with Michael Roland. Before that she was morning presenter on ABC774 Melbourne. She will move over to radio in March, when a replacement for News 24 Breakfast is named.
ABC director of news Kate Torney says Eastley “will bring 35 years of experience across almost every editorial and presenting role at the ABC. He’s one of our very best journalists and his addition to Australia’s most watched news channel is another investment in the strength of its coverage and its value to a growing audience. 2014 is going to be an exciting new chapter in the development of ABC News 24.”
