Wrecked car becomes Commercial Radio Award entry

Caralis Supernetwork station 2RE celebrated 50 years on air in 2003 with an unusual promotion that has now been nominated for an ACRA award in the ‘Best Community Service Project’ category.

Taree’s 2RE resurrected a rusty 50 year old FJ Holden and restored it with help from local businesses and service clubs to commemorate the station’s anniversary.

The car was then raffled in a massive promotion, where all proceeds went to aid local charities.

One of the conditions of the restoration was that all money was spent in the local area.
