2025 in Podcasts from Spotify Wrapped

Spotify Wrapped 2025 was out today with plenty sharing their top artists and songs, favourite genres and listening age. Mine was 70. It probably would have been older were it not for my love of cooking to mid 2000s dance music.

Wrapped doesn’t factor in podcast listening to your hours and favourites, but it does release Spotify’s top 10 podcasts for the year which, in Australia, are the below:

  1. The Joe Rogan Experience
  2. The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett
  3. The Mel Robbins Podcast
  4. Casefile True Crime
  5. Huberman Lab
  6. Call Her Daddy
  7. This Past Weekend with Theo Von
  8. Modern Wisdom
  9. Hamish & Andy
  10. The Louis Theroux Podcast

Only two of the top ten are Australian, Casefile True Crime and Hamish & Andy. Joe Rogan was again No 1. I must additionally mention that Hamish & Andy is the only of the 10 that is currently included in the Triton Australian Podcast Ranker due to Spotify, Acast, SiriusXM and others choosing not to pay to be included.

The UK top ten had Steven Bartlett knocking Joe Rogan from No 1 for the first time. Former soccer star Gary Lineker‘s Goalhanger Podcast company has four in the top ten – The Rest is Politics, History, Football and Entertainment. His pivot from the BBC has been exceptionally successful.

Top UK Podcasts of 2025:

  1. The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett
  2. The Joe Rogan Experience
  3. The Louis Theroux Podcast
  4. The Rest Is Politics
  5. The Mel Robbins Podcast
  6. The Rest Is History
  7. We Need To Talk with Paul C. Brunson
  8. Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster
  9. The Rest Is Football
  10. The Rest Is Entertainment

Steven Bartlett would share on LinkedIn:

“I woke up to a text from my brother telling me Spotify had announced that my podcast is the 2nd biggest show globally behind Joe Rogan….

i genuinely don’t know how to say this, so I’m just going to word vomit it out.

How f*cking weird is that? Like truly… how weird is that!?

The Diary Of A CEO started in my spare bedroom at 2am back in 2017. Episode 1 was edited by me on Garageband (sorry about that episode) and I used a sock as the pop-shield 🧑🏿‍💻🧦

We got 40 downloads in the first week 🤗

I kept going because I loved it. It was therapy – as an introvert, I crave deep meaningful conversations, and they’re rare in a world full of small talk – so I found my own little place to connect with people on the level that I love.

If my mates Ash Jones and Oliver Yonchev– who are always the first to tell me when something is crap – hadn’t told me they thought it was decent, I probably wouldn’t have had the confidence to continue…

isn’t it crazy how a few supportive words from someone you trust can genuinely shift the trajectory of your life…

5 years ago, after leaving my company, I decided to take the podcast seriously – to publish every week, to video it, and to make it my obsession…

obsession has been the precursor of everything good in my professional life (shoutout to all the ADHD brains).”

Finally, the global top 10 is below, with 6 of the 10 in the Australian, and the top three identical.

Global Top Podcasts of 2025:

  1. The Joe Rogan Experience
  2. The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett
  3. The Mel Robbins Podcast
  4. Call Her Daddy
  5. This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von
  6. Huberman Lab
  7. Crime Junkie
  8. Modern Wisdom
  9. On Purpose with Jay Shetty
  10. The Tucker Carlson Show

A remarkable year for Mel Robbins. Her podcast was far and away No 1 on the Ranker at the start of this year before SiriusXM’s withdrawal. Motivational and lengthy interview podcasts have dramatically increased their reach and appeal. The willingness of Australians to commit to spending time with their favourite podcasters and their guests is reflected in none being short, sweet affairs like radio offers. The range of the ages and types of podcasts in the Australian top 10 also shows that there is something for everyone, and Australian listeners are finding it.
