The first Xtra Insights survey of the Maryborough region of Queensland in three years has seen Triple M Fraser Coast just edge out sister station Hit 101.9. Andrew ‘Blandy’ Bland (pictured) has also very nearly nabbed top spot on breakfast from the Hit Network team of Bronte and Lakey (from June 8-16) and Jess & Rohan, from Newcastle NSW, after that date to the end of survey period, July 5.
All up the two SCA stations held more than 50% of the listening audience overall, and nearer 60% on breakfast. ABC Wide Bay was also up, but triple j, as has been seen in most of the recent Xtra Insights surveys, was well down, to just 4% preferred station.
Hit copped some severe losses across the day, most markedly in evenings which was the only day part where the ABC was preferred. Blandy was up 6.4 to 28.7% preferred on breakfast, Hit down 1.3 to 30.7%.
24,000 people are tuning into Triple 103.5 Fraser Coast now each week, which is up 50%.
Phil Bradley, Head of Triple M Regional Content said:
“Driven by our hyper local approach, Triple M Fraser Coast has had an outstanding result today. After more than 30 years on Breakfast, Blandy continues to be at the heart of the Fraser Coast community, whether it’s supporting locals through initiatives like Helping Hand, giving away thousands of dollars in free fuel, or connecting with listeners at events like the Hervey Bay Fishing Classic. That genuine connection is reflected in today’s results, with Triple M returning to the Number 1 station (27.5%, up 5.7 points) and delivering exceptional growth across key audiences.
“It’s especially pleasing to see more people choosing Triple M each week, with audience growth of 50%. We thank our amazing local audience as Triple M grows audiences, celebrated alongside the fact more people are choosing commercial radio on the Fraser Coast.”
