Nautel and Quu collaborate to create Visual Radio Air Chain #NABShow

Nautel, a leader in broadcast transmission technology, and Quu Inc., the trusted industry leader providing easy deployment of visual content for radio, have joined forces to simplify visual radio implementation for broadcasters.

At NAB 2025 the first integrated Visual Radio Air Chain was displayed.

It combines Nautel’s cutting-edge software-based air chain with Quu’s industry-leading ad and programming content management system, which comes with the Rapid technology base platform at no additional cost. This powerful integration allows radio broadcasters to effortlessly synchronize on-screen visuals with their audio content, enhancing listener engagement and unlocking new revenue opportunities.

The Visual Radio Air Chain extends Nautel’s award winning software-based approach for HD Radio even further by integrating Quu and Rapid functionality directly into the transmitter with integrations that tie in studio automation. The result is a seamless software-based air chain implementation that extends from content playout through visual metadata, audio processing, HD coding and synchronization to achieve Nautel’s promise of “Just Add Audio” simplicity.

Nautel and Quu | Rapid hosted a live demonstration at the Nautel booth (W2809) on the NAB show floor, where broadcasters experienced seamless visual radio deployment in action. The hands-on demo showed real-time implementation of station logos, album art, advertiser graphics, and metadata synchronization, offering an interactive look at how radio stations can “own the dashboard” in today’s competitive in-car audio space.

The NAB demo was supported by contributions from WideOrbit and Radio.Cloud, whose technologies further enhance the integration and automation of visual metadata across the broadcast ecosystem.

To celebrate this milestone, Xperi, Quu, and Nautel co-hosted a special industry reception at the Nautel booth and demonstrated the technology at the Flamingo Hotel in a special tutorial session.

“Radio broadcasters have a unique opportunity to enhance their presence in the modern car dashboard, and Nautel is committed to making it easier than ever to implement visual metadata,” said Philipp Schmid, CTO of Nautel. “Our collaboration with Quu ensures that every station, whether AM or FM, can deliver an engaging visual experience that strengthens listener loyalty and advertiser value.”

“The Visual Radio Air Chain is about keeping broadcasters competitive in today’s digital world,” said Steve Newberry, CEO of Quu. “By working with Nautel and our industry partners, we’re empowering stations with easy to use solutions to create captivating, revenue-generating dashboard experiences that drive audience engagement.”
