Fording the Divide

The Australian’s ‘Strewth’ column reports: "Taking the dog for its morning constitutional yesterday, Strewth ran into John Laws’s agent John Fordham – who was trotting to the corner shop to buy a copy of The Australian. Fordham hosted the dinner party where Alan Jones allegedly made his remarkable comment about David Flint and John Howard. Strewth reckons Fordham is probably the only bloke in Australia who could bring Laws and Jones together socially. For years, he and Jones were great mates and he was the first person on a plane to England in 1988 when Jones had his unfortunate encounter in a public toilet with a policeman. The two also did "phantom" sporting calls as a party trick. But clearly the friendship cooled when Fordham started working for Laws. Jones is now handled by another colourful agent, Harry M Miller.
