Renowned journalist Kerry O’Brien is confident demand for long-form investigative reporting will remain strong in a world of shorter attention spans, but has labelled a drift towards authoritarianism as the most serious threat to the free press.
Mr O’Brien, host of ABC’s 7:30 for 15 years and Four Corners from 2011 until 2015, said the most recent COVID-19 lockdowns were a necessary response to the global pandemic, but is alarmed about the increasing “militarisation” of police forces.
