Golden Days Radio in Glen Eira is celebrating 30 years on the airwaves.

A lot of water has passed under the bridge since Golden Days Radio (GDR 95.7FM) first went to air.

The official radio station for the senior residents of Glen Eira started in a garage in Bentleigh in 1991. A space was then acquired at Southland Shopping Centre in 1993 and in early 1994, Caulfield Racecourse became the station’s new home.

Now for the last 12 years, Golden Days Radio has been operating out of its studio in Glen Huntly. The station, which plays a variety of music from the 1930s to the 2000s, is operated with a volunteer workforce.
