Turp’s Upstanding Act

According to The Sydney Morning Herald’s ‘Spike’ column, Ian Turpie is the most honest man in showbiz, after all. Spike reported last week that the veteran TV and radio presenter had dared to do what other men have not – use the words "I did" in an ad about erectile problems. But the man they call Turps couldn’t discuss it over the phone because of some legal wrangling, his spokeswoman told us. Had they used him without permission? Misquoted him? Had the problems returned? No. The issue with the ad, Spike understands, was that it named a third party who would have preferred to remain anonymous. So Turps is still appearing in newspapers, doing other men a favour. More power – and potency – to him.
