Former Seven West executive jailed for fraud

Former Seven West executive John Michael Fitzgerald has been jailed for at least three years.

Fitzgerald defrauded the company of $8 million over a period of 13 years.

Seven West Media previously owned the Spirit and RedWave networks in Western Australia, but sold them to SCA last year in a deal worth $28 million.

The ACMA gives prior approval for Seven West-Prime and Southern Cross transactions

The ACMA has given prior approval for a transaction that will result in breaches of the media diversity rules, involving a proposed merger between Seven West Media Ltd (Seven) and Prime Media Group Ltd (Prime).
 
The transaction, if it proceeds, will result in breaches of media diversity laws in six regional areas in Western Australia.
 

SCA to add Redwave Media to its stable of stations

Southern Cross Austereo has advised sharholders that it is about to buy WA’s Redwave Media, with RedFM and Spirit AM stations in Broome, Geraldton, Karratha and Port Hedland and Southwest/Bunbury.
 
The purchase from the Seven West Media Group of $28 million is payable in cash and SCA has told investors that “…the acquisition is expected to be earnings per share accretitive in the current year and to generate a return on invested capital above SCA’s hurdle rate of 8.9%.”

Seven West Media's Redwave radio stations increase revenue

Seven West Media, the parent company of the Spirit and Red FM networks in WA, has reported annual financial results today.

The company has reported a statutory net loss of $745.0 million for the year ended 24 June 2017 after significant one-off writedowns of its television business.

Excluding the writedowns, Seven West showed an underlying profit after income tax, excluding significant items net of tax of $166.8 million on total revenues of $1,679.4 million. 

The company's radio division revenue increased by $2 million.

Clive Dickens leaving Southern Cross Austereo

Clive Dickens is leaving SCA and will move to Seven West Media next year.

Dickens will transition out of his role as the Director of Digital and Innovation at SCA at a date in 2015 yet to be determined.

He will assume the position of Chief Digital Officer at Seven West Media, reporting to CEO Tim Worner.

Peter Lewis appointed to ABC Board

Peter Lewis has been appointed to the ABC Board as a non-executive director for the next five years.

Lewis conducted a recent review into the ABC after leaving Channel 7. He was at Southern Cross Austereo for a short time, before resigning suddenly.

SCM appoints new CFO

After the untimely death of former CFO Steve Kelly; Peter Lewis has today been appointed the new Chief Financial Officer of the Southern Cross Media Group.

Peter was previously Chief Financial Officer of Seven West Media, having spent a total of 15 years in various Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer roles within the group. Peter has most recently lead the Federal Government inquiry into the efficiency of the operations of the ABC and SBS.

7 West Media not in merger talks with Fairfax

Seven West Media Limited issued a statement to the stock exchange yesterday saying it is not in merger talks with Fairfax Media.
