The 2025 Walkley Awards are now open to all Australian media for work published/broadcast on any platform between 20 August, 2024 and 18 August, 2025. Entries close 18 August.
Last year nearly 1200 entries were submitted for our 30 categories.
The judges rely heavily on your written statement when assessing your entry, so ensuring your application is as strong as possible is crucial.
The Awards are judged in a two-tier process. The first round is judged by a specialist panel of media professionals and the second round by the Walkley Judging Board, that consists of independent media experts from across the country. The Documentary and Book categories and Outstanding Contribution to Journalism are judged differently.
