4BC listeners Coyne the G.O.A.T State of Origin try

NRL State of Origin 2025 kicks off tomorrow night in Brisbane and 4BC have been running a poll to vote for the Maroons’ greatest ever try.

It was a resounding victory for Mark Coyne declared 4BC Drive’s State of Origin G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Tries). Drive presenter Gary Hardgrave tipped Coyne early for the title, a sentiment clearly shared by Queenslanders.

Coyne’s winning try, during Game 1 of the 1994 series, was a last gasp play called a miracle (except by Peter Sterling). You can watch below. Blues fans – I just wouldn’t. It still hurts.

Coyne joined Hardgrave on 4BC Drive to reflect on his playing career and preview State of Origin Game 1.

Asked about that moment, Coyne said:

“Whilst I had the privilege of finishing off that try, there were lots of hands involved, and it wouldn’t happen unless everybody played their part to get the ball back out to me. So yeah, whilst I got the finish it was a great team effort.”

4BC will broadcast live from Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday May 28 from 5.30am to 8.00pm. You can come down and join the 4BC team of Peter Fegan, Bill McDonald, Sofie Formica, Gary Hardgrave, Peter Psaltis and the Continuous Call Team, all live from the 4BC stage plus have the chance to meet the FOGS (Former Origin Greats), win prizes and score the last tickets in town to Game 1.
