4BC’s dream league team of the 70s

News Talk 1116 4BC has announced its rugby league team of the 70s, an initiative by Sports Today presenter Rod Tiley.

The team was finalised after fielding in excess of 1000 suggestions from loyal Sports Today listeners.

Tiley says that it was a really tough process with so many great players to choose from and unfortunately a number of outstanding players missed the final cut during the selection process.

The final team selected is as below:

Fullback – Ian ‘Bunny’ Pearce (Redcliffe)

Wing – Warren Orr (Wests/Wynnum Manly)

Centre – Gerry Fitzpatrick (Valleys)

Centre – Peter Leis (Redcliffe)

Wing – Jeff Denman (Easts)

5/8 – Geoff Richardson (Wests)

½ back – Ross Strudwick (Valleys)

Lock – Norm Carr (Wests)

2nd Row – Lew Platz (Wynnum Manly/Souths)

2nd Row – Des Morris (Easts)

Front Row – Rod Morris (Easts)

Hooker – John Lang (Easts)

Front Row – Greg Vievers (Souths)

Reserve – Tony Obst (Redcliffe)

Reserve – John McCabe (Valleys)

Coach – Henry Holloway (Valleys)

4BC will host an outside broadcast tonight between 6pm – 8pm at the Broncos Leagues Club where the players will be presented with a special jersey in recognition of their selection in the team.
