4TO FM edges out HIT103.1 in Townsville survey

Townsville’s commercial radio stations Power100, Star 106.3, Hit103.1 Townsville and 4TO were the focus of the city’s latest radio ratings, with Triple M Network’s 4TO gaining 1.2 percentage points (total of 22.9%) and becoming Townsville’s most listened to station. 

4TO gained listeners in all but the 25-39 bracket (down 3.0%), and increased its audience for the Drive session with a rise of 3.1% for Glen Mintern’s Drive Home with Minty.

ABC took hits across all stations, with triple j down 2.3 points. 
  
“Townsville is an active media centre for North Queensland with four commercial radio stations serving a population of around 220,000 people,” said Joan Warner, chief executive officer of industry body Commercial Radio Australia. 
 
Townsville is the last regional area to be surveyed in 2017 as part of a broader regional radio research initiative to measure listening across the country.
 
Conducted by Xtra Insights, the survey involved 1200 participants and was conducted between 30 Oct and 18 November. The last survey in Townsville was released in November 2016.
