5AU/5CS/Magic 105.9 says goodbye to David Syer

It’s the end of an era in South Australia’s Spencer Gulf radio.

After 16 years at 5AU/5CS/Magic 105.9, Breakfast host David Syer is hanging up the cans on Friday, Dec 20.
During his close to 40 years in the industry, Dave has been a colourful, cheeky & quick-witted personality who made a strong connection with his listeners, spending time at 3YB Warrnambool, 2AY Albury, 4RO Rockhampton, 2DU Dubbo, 2CC/KIX 106 Canberra, 4RR Townsville, ABC Darwin and 5AU/5CS/Magic 105.9 Port Augusta and Port Pirie.
Station GM, Gary Kernahan said, “Dave has been an asset for our stations for many years, it’s sad to see him go, but we know he’s in a really great place, and we wish him all the best for the future.”
According to Content Director, Glenn Baker, “You won’t find a more dedicated & committed talent. Dave’s perfectionism not only came through the speakers, but also had a profound impact on the young talent that had the privilege of working with him. He’s a ‘one of a kind’ that will be missed by our audience, and our team. We thank Dave for all he has contributed over his journey.”
From the man himself; “I have enjoyed 16 wonderful years in many varied roles with 5AU, 5CS and Magic 1059. I can’t say enough about the encouragement I have received from Glenn and Gary to produce and sustain entertaining and engaging radio and of course, support through the most difficult period of my life.
“It has been a heck of a great ride and now I am entering an exciting new chapter back home in Victoria with my family and my beautiful girlfriend. Yes, this blue flag waver has fallen in love.
“I wish all the best for my friends at 5AU, 5CS and Magic 1059.”
