666 ABC Canberra’s annual Giving Tree Appeal

666 ABC Canberra is partnering with Marymead to give disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Canberra community the chance to share the joy of Christmas through the 2015 Giving Tree Appeal.

From today until Friday 18 December, 666 ABC Canberra is encouraging people to donate gifts suitable for children, young people and families which will be distributed by Marymead over the festive season.

Marymead is a community based not-for-profit organisation that has been providing a range of high quality, innovative support services to Canberrans in need since 1967.

Marymead delivers a wide range of programs throughout the ACT and regional NSW and works with approximately 2,000 individuals and families each year, providing some of our community’s most vulnerable people with the support they need along the way.

Camilla Rowland, Marymead’s Chief Executive Officer said that Marymead is delighted and grateful to be participating in the 666 ABC Canberra 2015 Giving Tree Appeal.

“Not only will this initiative help support a vast number of families and households this Christmas, it also provides Marymead with a wonderful opportunity to tell our story to ABC listeners during this four week campaign.

“Marymead will also be distributing any gifts excess to our needs to a number of other community organisations to ensure as many of Canberra’s households as possible don’t go without this Christmas.”

This year, Marymead is calling for the following suggested donations for children, young people, and their families:

  • Food vouchers (food only, no alcohol)
  • Non perishable items
  • School holiday activity vouchers eg movie passes, zoo passes, bowling, waterparks, trampoline arenas, playlands etc.
  • Sporting items
  • Back to school items

New, unwrapped gift items can be delivered to the Giving Tree at the ABC Canberra reception, corner of Northbourne and Wakefield Avenues, during business hours from Monday – Friday until 18 December.
