The Tamworth region’s oldest FM radio community radio station celebrated 40 years of broadcasting with the Board, management, staff, and volunteers.

“Tamworth Broadcasting Society” commenced on 16th July 1983, from a small studio with a turntable. mixer and cassette recorder in an old laundry room in Marius Street in the City, with walls lined with egg cartons for sound insulation and broadcasting on 500 watts, 5 kilometres east of the city.

The former 2YOU FM is now Tamworth Radio 88.9FM (new England Northwest), 96.3FM (Liverpool Plains) plus available on iHeart Radio and has grown to be one of NSW’s largest regional community stations.
