By wheeling a bin through Perth 92.9 Triple M, and some famous friends, raised more than $36,000 during a 12 hour live broadcast for their ‘Wheelie Big Day for Telethon’
The new breakfast team of Xavier Ellis and Katie Lamb plus other announcers from the station started at 5.30am, walking an orange wheelie bin from Fremantle to Forrest Place, collecting donations along the way.
Last year the telethon raised $23,000. This year the station had $25,000 worth of donations before the official walk had even commenced!
Some famous faces including SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton, Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington (pictured above), Ben Cousins (main picture) and Larry Emdur all helped out to encourage donations.
Larry Emdur got right in the spirit of his game show The Price is Right, playing a game of ‘Higher or Lower’ for the total amount of money raised, with the final amount $36,255.
Katie Lamb said:
“Thank you to the people of Perth! Your generosity is next level, and we thank you so much for your ‘wheelie’ amazing donations to this very important cause!”
