While 2014 kicked off with lots of media buzz around new breakfast teams, and personalities changing stations, one team has re-united to the delight of their listeners. After three years, the popular Hope FM breakfast team of Aaron Wright and Dan Widdowson returned just after Australia Day.
Loyal supporters of Hope 103.2 were advised via a private video message in early January, while a teaser video was also launched for the general listening audience. Some listeners already knew (but weren’t telling), and others tried to guess, like Facebook fan Bek who commentes: “I’m 99.99% sure who this is. A quick search of google images to confirm the silver ring and wedding ring, did the trick! Feeling like an accomplished detective or possibly a stalker!”
The official announcement was made in late Janurary, receiving hundreds of facebook likes and comments along with favourable email responses.
Some listeners were so excited they even created ‘Bitstrips’ of the duo:
When asked about their aims for the show Aaron responded: “We’re serving up the best, most fun start to everyday, intertwined with kilt wearing, banjo plucking, bagpipe blowing goodness!”
Aaron and Dan have wasted no time on creating a fun, family friendly show with plenty of ‘shenanigans’ including their Unofficial Anthem for ‘The Colder Part of the Year’ Games and Hope 103.2 Handball Championship.
Dedicated to starting each weekday with a ‘healthy’ breakfast show filled loads of useful news and information, these two Dads explore every aspect of Sydney’s vibrant mornings in a family friendly way.
Hope breakfast with Aaron and Dan airs weekdays 6-9am on Hope 103.2.
I listen to the simulcast of 9 News Sydney via Hope FM online. During 9's ad breaks, promos of presumably that morning's 'highlights' are played.
To use the word highlight is to be very kind. I do not find the content to humourous (in any objective test of it), nor do the promos capture any of the Christian ethos/ideals that the station has been given a licence to espouse.
