Abbott sings Elvis for Ant and Becks

When Tony Abbott agreed to be on Mix FM’s The Ant and Becks Show nobody thought it would get weird. In the light hearted interview Abbott called Julia Gillard “a disappointment,” Mark Latham “a loose cannon” and, in a perhaps unintended comentary on what voters think of the major parites, he sang the Elvis song Suspicious Minds.

He was more than willing to play a game of word association and made fun of his budgie smugglers.

When asked about his thoughts on Kevin Rudd he said he feels sorry for him and in a closing comment said:

“I just think it’s important to get rid of the bad government, they have wasted money, they’ve broken promises, they’ve tried to clobber the mining industry” then went on to say “Let’s get rid of them before they do anymore damage.”

The former boxer, who cycles 35 kms every morning, is the only politician to come on the Ant and Becks show so far in the campaign, but they put out the call for others to step up and subject themselves to the same treatment if they are game.
