ABC Classic FM is reducing its Jazz content in 2015 by decommissioning Jazz Up Late and shifting Jazztrack to the digital channel ABC Jazz.
Jazztrack is hosted Mal Stanley and brings you the best jazz from around the world from 5-7pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Other programs on ABC Jazz this year are:
Jazz with Jessica Nicholas: Jessica covers the full spectrum of jazz, with a particular speciality in European jazz as well as an emphasis on contemporary artists and current releases from Australia. (Thursday at 2:00pm; repeated Sunday at 12 noon)
Thursday Night Live: ABC Jazz brings live jazz to your lounge room. Includes original local recordings as well as some of the classic live albums in the history of jazz. (Thursday at 9:00pm)
Talking Jazz: Explore the favourite music of jazz musicians themselves: hear what inspires and influences them. This series includes interviews from the likes of Andrew Ford (RN’s The Music Show), Ben Sidran, Marian McPartland and Gerry Koster’s My Favourite Things. (Friday, 2:00pm)
Feature Album: Hear it on high-rotation all week, each week, as ABC Jazz puts the spotlight on a select feature album, be it a new release or a piece of Australian Jazz history.
Tim Richie, Manager of ABC Jazz said: “In 2015, content on ABC Jazz comes from all directions. We’re exploring the latest recordings and classic tracks from around the world and on the ground at Australia’s leading festivals, and supporting the local jazz scene through our social networks and featured music. ABC Jazz remains a vital part of the Australian jazz community and builds on the reputation ABC Radio has for specialist jazz programming, appealing to fans and musicians alike.”
ABC Jazz can be heard on digital radio, digital tv and the ABC Apps.
