ABC goes Underground

ABC radio’s Melbourne listeners will be able to hear all five of the broadcaster’s networks in the Domain and Burnley Tunnels.

The ABC has struck a long awaited agreement with CityLink to broadcast in the tunnels, where reception was being lost.

Its charter prevented the ABC from entering into the same agreement as other commercial stations.

CityLink’s Brendan Bourke says a one off payment has been arranged: “This will pay for necessary equipment to rebroadcast the signal, and that will provide the service for the next 10 years.”
