ABC Radio Perth officially switches from 720 AM transmission to 102.5 FM from February 23. Radio National will be heard on 103.3FM and ABC NewsRadio will be found on 104.1FM.
AM services will continue in regional and remote WA areas and emergency or Parliament broadcasting will not be impacted.
The switch follows the outcome of The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) proposal to vary the Perth and Remote Western Australia radio licence area plans. AM coverage, particularly in Perth’s south, has been an issue for the ABC since the 1970s.
The ABC Radio Perth and the local Radio National on AM will cease shortly after the new FM services become fully operational. NewsRadio will continue to simulcast on 585AM for the time being.
