ABC Radio host Red Symons hospitalised

ABC Melbourne breakfast host Red Symons is recovering in hospital after a fall caused by a ‘sudden lack of conciousness’.

Station manager Warwick Tiernan read this statement from Red on air this morning.

Hello everybody! Just over a week ago, on Wed 5 July, when walking home from the supermarket I experienced a sudden lack of consciousness. This resulted in a fall, with my head hitting the pavement.

I am currently in hospital, thankful to be receiving the best of medical attention and working on a speedy recovery.

I’m sorry for this unexpected absence, but do look forward to getting back to work as soon as possible.

ABC Radio has extended best wishes to Red, his family & friends for his fast recovery, and looks forward to hearing him again soon.

Libbi Gorr has been filling in for the 68 year old.

ABC Radio will not be making any additional comment regarding the matter.
