Adam Shand to host 6PR drive show

Journalist and author Adam Shand will become the new 6PR Drive presenter next year.

Shand will take over the Drive shift in 2015 from Paul Murray, who recently announced his retirement from full-time radio.

Shand is a journalist, author and broadcaster with 30 years of experience in the media and is well-known for his investigative reporting on crime and outlaw motorcycle clubs.

A Walkley Award winner in 2007, Adam has worked with the Nine Network, The Bulletin magazine, The Australian Financial Review and most recently The Australian. He is also a regular national affairs commentator for 6PR’s Bob Maumill’s Sunday program.

6PR General Manager Martin Boylen said: “Adam ticked all of the boxes we were looking for in a replacement for Paul Murray. He has a strong background in journalism, an inquiring mind and will bring a ton of energy and enthusiasm to this important shift.”

Shand is excited by the challenge and immediacy of talk radio and was looking forward to joining the 6PR on-air team in 2015. “I’m thrilled to be given this opportunity. The future of radio is strong and I’m attracted to the scope and range of stories a city like Perth has to offer.”

Shand will commence on-air on January 12, 2015.
