AFL taking over the airwaves

The anticipation of finals glory will reach fever-pitch this Saturday for Tigers’ fans when they take on GWS in the preliminary final.

Befitting the occasion, Tiger greats Rex Hunt, Dale ‘Flea’ Weightman and Tony Jewell will join forces in a radio first, an unashamedly biased call of the game for Tiger Radio on AFLnation.com.au. The call team will share their one-eyed commentary as Richmond slugs it out for a shot at grand final glory.

Following last week’s remarkable 51-point qualifying final win over Geelong at the MCG, the Tigers take on GWS this Saturday in their first preliminary final appearance since 2001, bringing them one step away from a shot at the 2017 AFL Grand Final.

Tony Jewell, the last man to coach the Tigers to a premiership, said the Tiger Radio commentary team would treat Richmond die-hards to a call to remember. ‘It’s going to be one hell of a night for long-suffering Richmond supporters who’ve had to wait since 1980 for a Premiership flag,’ Jewell said.

Rex Hunt, who played in the 1969 and 1973 Richmond premiership sides and has called more than 2000 AFL games across his commentary career, was notably enthused. ‘Let’s just say it’s going to be a colourful call … yellow and black colours that is!’, he said.
Tiger fans can tune into Tiger Radio this Saturday 23rd September via http://www.aflnation.com.au.

And hitting the airwaves straight after the Grand Final, NAB AFL Trade Radio broadcast on www.AFL.com.au will cover each AFL club’s trade decisions. Today at 11am, Bulldog’s forward Jake Stringer (who is courting offers from numerous Victorian clubs) will speak at the Trade Radio launch and discuss his trade prospects. Player managers and trade experts will also preview the upcoming trade period.
