AFTRS Radio students’ 2NRS broadcast is now live

The Australian Film Television and Radio School’s Graduate Diploma in Radio students have been busy researching, recording and editing and are now on air for their second broadcast of the year 2NRS, streaming until June 20 on the iHeartRadio app.

“The Graduate Diploma in Radio course offers experiential learning and live broadcasts. It is a chance for students to put into action new learning in all aspects of audio production, content creation, news headlines and live-to-air announcing,” says AFTRS Head of Radio, Fyona Smith.

2NRS is a national adult contemporary station with a regional focus.

Programming includes vibrant personality-driven content combined with music, local news, specialty shows, podcasts and online content.

Radio professionals from across the country have guided students in the station build and will aircheck and coach the class throughout the broadcast. Coaches will include AFTRS alum and newly appointed Hit Newcastle announcer Sean Brown, Ace Radio Content Director Emma Clark and, zooming in from New Zealand, Allan Sheppard from NZME’s The Hits Network.

Sydney-based announcer, producer, podcaster and content-director Mandy Coolen has been mentoring students in the lead up to 2NRS going live.

“It has been fantastic to see the creativity and passion from students as they build 2NRS,” Mandy says.

“Watching them collaborate and build the station from scratch has been very exciting and I’m keen to hear the results of their hard work. I know the future of radio is in good hands with this talented bunch of AFTRS students becoming the next generation of radio stars.”

Once again, AFTRS is partnering with iHeartRadio to share the station with audiences across Australia. Follow 2NRS at https://2nrs.aftrs.edu.au or listen on iHeartRadio at https://www.iheart.com/live/2nrs-8603

Students will also be posting content on the station’s Facebook page or on Instagram.
