The 2025 AFTRS radio and podcasting class have just begun their next broadcasting simulation, this time in a regional format.
Part of the AFTRS philosophy is to give students real hands on practical experience as part of their learning, so that they are ready for work as soon as they complete their course. The 2NRS simulation, an acronym for ‘national regional simulation’ aims to get them ready for the wider range of music and the different local news and information content they will encounter if they take up jobs in regional radio or specialist local podcasting.
When radioinfo dropped in to visit, the breakfast team talked about the nerves, mingled with excitement, they felt during their first shift. As always in a radio station, the team tries to generate energy and fun as part of their day. 2NRS is no exception, as the intentionally corney promo reel and the good natured stiring of ‘sleepy Kwame’ shows.
