The ABA says a decision is likely early next year on who will be granted the vacant community radio licence in Alice Springs.

The Authority says the former licence holder, 8CCC, had to re-apply after its parent body, Centralian College, merged with Charles Darwin University.

Licences cannot be transferred between holders.

The Community Radio Association of Central Australia is the second applicant.
