CBAA Award Entries Flood In

There has been a ‘great response’ to the CBAA Awards, which are part of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia National Conference – to be held from Thursday 25-Sunday 28 November on the Gold Coast.

Amid increased popularity and a demand from community stations to extend the deadline, the CBAA says it has been inundated with award entries.

There are 14 categories up for grabs, including Station of the Year. Judges have received more entries than last year and the standard is described as ‘really strong’.

Other categories include:
* Best Spoken Word
* Contribution to Australian Music
* Community Initiatives.

The aim of the awards is to reward excellence and innovation in programming and community/external activities.

The awards will be handed out at a special dinner on Saturday 27 November, as part of the four day conference.

A highlight of the conference will be an OB van, which will be made available for delegates to broadcast reports and programs back to their stations.

Conference topics include:
* Conflict Resolution
* Audience Research and Grassroots Lobbying
* Digital Audio Editing and Production
* Interviewing Skills
* Community Business Partnerships
* Marketing on a shoestring.

Eligible member stations can get a subsidy to attend. For conference details, click on the link below.
