Amazing talent revealed at 97.3 Coast FM’s annual Coast Idol competition

97.3 Coast FM’s Coast Idol has reached new heights with the station’s karaoke and live acoustic competition, now in its tenth year, turning out some amazing talent over the years and this year was no different!
 
In front of a huge crowd at The Brighton Hotel in Mandurah, six karaoke and seven live acoustic contestants battled it out to win the First Prize of $3,000 cash for each category, thanks to the Brighton, Andrew Ralph Diamond Jewellers, Devils and Angels and 97.3 Coast FM!
 
First place was awarded to karaoke contestant Tamika Kaspar with her phenomenal rendition of ‘And I’m Telling You’ by Jennifer Hudson that received a standing ovation from all of the judges and then Jasmine Atkins wowed the judges and public alike with her soulful rendition of 5 Seconds of Summer’s ‘Amnesia’.

One of the judges, Greg Green has extensive music industry connections was so impressed that he has organised for Jasmine to perform as the opening act of the Australian Made Summer of Music concert on the Saturday of the Australia Day weekend 2015.
 
Jasmine will be mixing with the likes of Pete Murray, The Whitlams, You Am I, Daryl Braithwaite, Mental As Anything and Dave Warner from the Suburbs.
 
Station Sales Manager Mike Locke said ‘97.3 Coast FM is very excited to be able to provide this opportunity and looks forward to continuing their support of local talent!’
 
Both Krissy Smith and Matt Hantler placed second in karaoke and live acoustic categories respectively, winning themselves $750 worth of prizes, and Hayley Summers and Bec Scrivener came in third winning $300 worth of prizes!
