Ash McGregor will finish up on triple j’s Home and Hosed, with ‘Australian music’s biggest fan,’ Anika Luna, stepping in to take over the mic from next month.
After five years, Ash McGregor is signing off from triple j. Ash began as the triple j Breakfast Producer in 2020, helping young people all around the country start their day with fun and friendly voices during a time of uncertainty. A diehard local music fan, it wasn’t long until she stepped into the host seat on Home & Hosed, where her respect for artists, love for local music and ability to bring Australian music stories to life, connected with listeners nationwide.
During her time on the show, Ash has helped grow the program from one-hour to two and has helped curate triple j’s Gig Guide. From festival OBs to One Night Stand and the Hottest 100, she’s been a part of some of triple j’s most memorable moments.
Ash shares: “Hosting Home & Hosed has been a literal dream come true. If you told 13-year-old Ash, who was entering every radio comp, hitting every underage gig in Brisbane, and making playlists of local bands for her mates that she’d one day get paid to do this? No way! It’s been the greatest honour to be trusted with artists’ songs, to shout about the wild talent in this country, and to help champion Australian music on a global stage. I deeply love the community we’ve built. We’ve got two weeks left, so to everyone who’s spent their weeknights with me, thank you! I’ll see you soon.”
Taking over from August is Anika Luna, who triple j listeners will know from Unearthed and triple j’s Late Nights and Live At The Wireless. Anika got her start on Melb-based community radio station SYN, while she was still in high school. Her natural talent, warmth and brightness came through loud and clear and has continued to do so ever since. She’s been tapped into Australian music for years, discovering new artists, and showing up in the mosh multiple times a week, all with a genuine passion for the music and communities that make it happen.
As Community Producer for Unearthed since 2023, she’s been paving the way for new local talent, from their very first upload to their first Unearthed Competition win, and beyond. If you’ve spent any time on Unearthed recently, chances are you’ve come across at least one of her 3,500 reviews.
Anika says: “Australian music is my oxygen! I know first-hand that this country holds the most spectacular creatives on this planet so stepping up to the Home & Hosed podium is the highest honour and truly a dream come true. I’m so ready to continue uplifting the next generation of Australian artists, strengthening our music community on air and IRL!”
Ash McGregor’s final show will air on Thursday, 31 July from 7pm.
