Ash Bradnam Survives his 40th birthday

Nova makes a song and dance about an ordinary event

A capacity crowd at Brisbane’s Powerhouse theatre gave a rousing reception to the musical tribute written to celebrate Nova Brisbane breakfast host, Ash Bradnam’s, 40th birthday.

Nova 106.9FM Program Director, Jay Walkerden and Marketing Director, Dee Curtis, came up with the idea to create a musical about the life and the career of the Nova breakfast host after Bradnam insisted in an early year production meeting that the station not “make a song and dance about his birthday.”

Ash: The Musical was a purpose written, one-hour show, that featured performances by almost everyone in the Nova Brisbane building in front of a capacity crowd of invited guests, clients and listeners.

The crowd clapped and cheered as the life of Ash Bradnam was laid bare in a hilarious song and dance routine that celebrated the announcer’s life highs – and lows!

The Crowd favourite was easily the performance of a dance troupe to a re-worked version of the global phenomena – Gangnam Style re – dubbed “Bradnam Style.

The crowd also gave a rousing cheer to the Nova Brisbane sales department, who took to the stage for an encore performance of Donna Summer’s “I Will Survive.”

Featuring most of the Nova Direct and Agency Sales Team and led by Agency Client Executive, Brad Roberts, embracing his inner diva in a one shoulder frock and bouffant wig, the performance included some very cheeky lyrics that referenced the ongoing rivalry between Nova and Austereo.
