Asia Pop 40 renewed on Singapore’s MediaCorp

Singapore’s MediaCorp Radio has renewed its contract to air the three-hour weekly-syndicated chart show Asia Pop 40 on its English-language CHR station 987FM.

The show is produced by Singapore’s EON Media Group.

EON’s Australian CEO Rob Graham says MediaCorp has been one of the program’s biggest supporters and was the first client. “They saw the potential of Asia Pop 40 are we are thrilled that the improved ratings have allowed them to keep airing the show.”

MediaCorp Radio’s Vice President for English Programming Georgina Chang says the show is “an important development in localised Asian radio. We wanted to air a show that was more relevant for our listeners than an imported chart show, and the ratings results have proved that Asia Pop 40 has struck the right chord with our 987FM music lovers.”

Asia Pop 40 is hosted by Asian media celebrity Dom Lau. The Mandarin version of Asia Pop 40 is hosted by Malaysian-born actor, singer-songwriter and radio celebrity Max Lim.

Australian Tim Hagan is Asia Pop 40ʼs award-winning Music Director and Producer. He was previously Music Programmer / Producer for SBS Australiaʼs highly successful PopAsia TV show.

Asia Pop 40 is Asia’s first locally produced chart countdown radio program and also the first syndicated Asian-produced radio show. It currently airs in 14 markets across Southeast Asia since launching in July 2013.

The Asia Pop 40 chart is compiled using Asian chart data provided exclusively by iTunes. The show airs twice every weekend.
