Aussies poll well in triple j Hottest 100

‘Take Me Out’ by Franz Ferdinand has been voted most popular song for 2004 in triple j’s annual Hottest 100.

The track has attracted 470 000 SMS and internet votes – twice as many nods as any other song in what is described as the world’s biggest music poll.

Missy Higgins, discovered by triple j’s ‘Unearthed’ has scored three entries, with two in the top 10.

Among other strong local performers, Eskimo Joe has also managed three entries; Powderfinger and Spiderbait are in the top 10; John Butler Trio has four songs in the Hottest 100; and Jet has two. Newcomers include Little Birdy, Evermore and Dallas Crane.

More than 1400 people staged Hottest 100 countdown parties – not only across Australia but as far afield as Britain, Bolivia and Antarctica!
