Australian Podcast Award winners revealed

Womens’ Prison Doco-Series, Birds Eye View, Named Podcast of the Year.

Life Uncut, hosted by The Bachelor alumni Laura Byrne and Brittney Hockley, named Listener’s Choice.

 

 

The winners of the Australian Podcast Awards for 2020 were announced last night (21/11), celebrating the best Australian podcasts across 24 different categories.

Birds Eye View, a revealing docu-series about life in a Northern Territory women’s prison, has been named Podcast of the Year, and Life Uncut, hosted by The Bachelor alumni Laura Byrne and Brittney Hockley, was named the Listeners’ Choice after a public vote of over 45,000 listeners.

Other big winners from the ceremony include Matt & Alex – All Day Breakfast (Moment of the Year for their reaction to the Black Lives Matter protests), daily news show 7AM (Best New Podcast) and Science Vs (Spotlight Award for its remarkable foresight in imagining a fictional pandemic). 

Hosted by Aussie comedian, presenter and podcast fan Froomes, the ceremony celebrated the best content and creators in the on-demand audio industry across 24 different categories. The live stream hooked up over 100 nominees from across Australia with winners doing acceptance speeches from their homes.

Former manager of the ABC’s Audio Studios, Kellie Riordan, was part of the team honoured as Podcast Champion of the Year.
