Big year for Max Rowley Academy graduates

Luke Bewley’s placement in news at the Jindabyne studios of 2XL by Capital Radio chief Rick Wybrew has topped of a record year for placements by the Max Rowley Media Academy in Sydney.

Student placements equalled the top number of professional jobs gained by students in over twenty years and was only three places short of a yearly record for the last generation.

Announcers started in Broken Hill, Tamworth, 4ZR Roma, 8HA and Hot FM Alice Springs, 2UE, Breeze FM, Innisfail, Vega, Kick 87.6 and Hot FM Bunbury among others. TV on camera placements were also at an all time high with news positions dominating the list.

Max Rowley’s Academy began training radio talent in 1962 and TV talent in 1972.

Rowley got his professional Radio start during the closing years of Broadcasting’s “Golden Age” of Radio Drama, working consistently with Grace Gibson, Artransa, 2UE, 2GB, 2UW, AWA and All ABC Radio Units. He appeared in “Classic” Serials such as “Portia Faces Life”, “Dr Paul”, “Mary Livingstone MD”, “The Guiding Light and dozens more. On TV he was best known for his voiceovers, always ending with “Maxc Rowley speaking.”
